NIXSOLUTIONS: Deep Research Now Open to More Users

OpenAI’s Deep Research feature is now available to all users, not just ChatGPT Pro subscribers. Originally launched in February as an exclusive offer for ChatGPT Pro users, it has now been extended to ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers. In addition, a lightweight version is now accessible to free users.

Deep Research, powered by the o3 model, is becoming increasingly popular. The tool enables users to generate detailed reports in seconds. It can assist with market analysis, writing literature reviews, selecting a university or place to live, and even choosing cosmetics, among many other tasks, as highlighted by Android Authority. To make the tool even more accessible, OpenAI has introduced a lightweight version based on the o4-mini model. According to OpenAI, this version delivers almost the same level of detail as the full version while being more economical to operate. The responses will be shorter but will retain the necessary depth and quality of analysis.

Subscription Tiers and Usage Limits

Access to Deep Research now depends on the user’s subscription type. Free users can make up to five queries per month, but only in the Lite version. ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers are allowed ten queries in the full version and fifteen in the Lite version. Pro users benefit from 125 queries in both versions, and Enterprise customers (Enterprise subscription) have access to ten queries in the full version. Once the limit of the full version is reached, ChatGPT will automatically switch to Lite mode to avoid interrupting work, adds NIXSOLUTIONS.

A Balanced Approach to Expansion

OpenAI emphasizes that expanding access will allow more people to take advantage of a powerful analytical tool. At the same time, by introducing reasonable restrictions for different user categories, the company aims to maintain a balance between openness and the sustainability of the entire ecosystem. The broader rollout demonstrates OpenAI’s commitment to offering valuable tools to a wider audience while carefully managing resources.
