NIX Solutions: Adobe Firefly Video Open Beta

Adobe has launched open beta testing for its Firefly Video generator, first introduced last fall. You can try it in the new Firefly section on Adobe’s website, which also hosts other AI-powered tools, now available by subscription.

Initially, the video generator was part of Premiere Pro’s beta version as the Generative Extend feature, which added small clips to footage. Now, the new Generate Video tool can create videos from text descriptions or static images. Users can adjust parameters like style, camera position, movement, and object distance.

New Features and Subscription Plans

The generator now supports 1080p resolution at 24 fps, an upgrade from the previous 720p. The maximum video length remains five seconds, with generation taking at least 90 seconds. Adobe is also working on additional versions: a lower-resolution model for idea generation and a 4K-capable version, both expected soon.

The Firefly section on Adobe’s website has also been updated, featuring an improved user interface and enhanced integration with Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Express. Beta testing has begun for the Scene to Image tool, which uses 3D objects or sketches to generate images. Adobe introduced this technology last October as Project Scenic. Additionally, the Translate Audio and Video tool now supports translation in over 20 languages while preserving original voices.

Firefly now operates on a subscription model, notes NIX Solutions. The Firefly Standard plan costs $9.99 per month and includes 2,000 credits—enough for up to 20 five-second videos in 1080p. Firefly Pro starts at $29.99 and offers 7,000 credits, supporting up to 70 videos. Subscribers also get unlimited raster and vector graphics editing.

We’ll keep you updated on further improvements and new features as they become available.
