YouTube has unveiled the updated Dream Screen feature, now available in the Shorts vertical video section. This tool uses artificial intelligence to generate dynamic video backgrounds, enhancing content creation. Previously, the feature allowed users to create still images as backgrounds, but the recent update adds video capabilities.
How It Works
The updated feature is powered by Google DeepMind’s Veo video generation model, enabling creators to produce 1080p resolution videos in various cinematic styles. To use the feature, access the Shorts camera, select the Green Screen icon, and choose Dream Screen. Enter a text prompt such as “candy landscape” or “magical forest and stream,” pick an animation style, and click “Create.” Dream Screen will generate several video backgrounds for you to choose from, allowing you to film your content with the selected image behind you.
Features and Future Updates
This tool is particularly useful for creating engaging visuals, such as immersing viewers in the world of their favorite book or designing animated intros for main videos, adds NIX Solutions. In the future, YouTube plans to enhance this feature by enabling users to generate 6-second videos entirely with Dream Screen.
Currently, TikTok also supports AI-generated backgrounds, but they are limited to static images. With this update, YouTube aims to stand out in the competitive short-form video landscape. The new Dream Screen feature is available to users in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
