TikTok plans to label content from other platforms created by neural networks. Thus, the short video service has become the first major resource to automatically highlight AI content.
AI Content Labeling on TikTok
Note that videos created using TikTok’s own AI tools are already automatically flagged. The company now requires creators to manually add the same tags to their own videos. However, until now, authors could circumvent the rules and pass off the generated material as their own by downloading it from other platforms, notes NIX Solutions.
Adam Presser, head of operations, trust and safety at TikTok, stated that artificial intelligence opens up incredible creative possibilities but can be confusing for viewers if they don’t know the content was created by AI. That’s why TikTok labels content created using its AI and has required creators to label such content for over a year.
Collaboration with C2PA
TikTok will now begin using digital tags created by the cross-industry group Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) to identify and label as much AI content as possible. This initiative marks a significant step in ensuring transparency and authenticity in digital content.
